Manchester United have joined the queue of Premier League clubs waiting to sign promising Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson in a cut-price January deal, according to The Daily Mirror.
Johnson has rejected Boro's recent contract offers, and will be able to leave the club this summer on a Bosman free transfer. The Championship club value the player at £6 million but may have to settle for less with his contract expiring in June.
Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Fulham and Sunderland are all reportedly interested in the England Under-21 international.
However, Ferguson is favourite to win the race, and supposedly sees the boyhood Red Devils fan as a potential long-term replacement for Ryan Giggs.
