Adebayor to miss Manchester Derby and how this matters to United!

Emmanuel Adebayor will miss Sunday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford after Manchester City

Adebayor has accepted a three-match suspension, which will commence with the United game this weekend, after pleading guilty to the violent conduct charge brought as a result of his foul on Robin van Persie, which left the Dutch forward with facial injuries, during City's 4-2 victory last Saturday.

A club statement said: "Manchester City announce that both the club and Emmanuel Adebayor have reluctantly accepted the violent conduct charge laid by the Football Association in the wake of the victory over Arsenal.

"The player strongly maintains that he did not intend to act in a violent manner. He apologised on the day to Robin van Persie personally and to the wider public for the outcome of the challenge.

HOW THIS MATTERS TO UNITED?

Robinho, Tevez and now Adebayor are not available for the Derby clash. This means that United have now an edge over City.

With Rio Ferdinand back (who was rested for the Besiktas CL game), the awesome Rio-Vidic partnership will be there, which requires a quality attack to disturb. Since Adebayor, Tevez and Robinho are most likely absent for the game, it will be hard to challenge the champions, who are high on confidence after the Spurs and Champions League win.
