Match 22: This is why Berbatov deserves the Golden boot! (Videos)

Ryan Giggs made his presence felt with a cracking goal making it 3-0 before half-time.

Manchester United 5-0 Birmingham City
Berbatov (2, 31, 53) Giggs (45) Nani (83)

One can safely say, Manchester United stepped on the field with just 1 task up their sleeves: To totally butcher up Birmingham City beyond recognition. And this is precisely what happened as we witnessed Dimitar Berbatov's 3rd hat-trick this season and 8th career-wise. Also some cracking performance from Wayne Rooney, Luis Nani and Giggs who was later subbed with Owen.

FIRST
United lead a formidable attack and after Giggs' substitution, the Red Devils played an Ultra-offenseive formation of 4-3-3 with VDS constantly feeding the Reds with some extra-magnificent long balls.
Despite Berba's third hat-trick of the season, today was just not about Berbatov, it was also about his striking partner: Wayne Rooney who did a brilliant job with constant crosses and assists. Without him, 5 goals on board would have been incredibly tough. So big ups to big lad.

Let me talk you through the game now.

LINE UP: VDS, Evra (Rafael), Vidic, Smalling, O'Shea, Nani, Carrick (Gibson), Anderson, Giggsy (Owen), Berba, Rooney

Bad news for United: Rio Ferdinand injured his groin during training and hence could not play in the game.
Good news: Antonio Valencia and Owen Hargreaves are making excellent progress towards full fitness.

MATCH REVIEW: One couldn't have asked for a better start as O'Shea set Berbatov perfectly up for a stunning finish. Then came along some bad news for United as Michael Carrick was injured and had to be replaced by Long-range-shooter Darron Gibson.

A legend that is RYAN GIGGS!!

The match against Tottenham Spuds will mark the legend's 600th appearance for the Reds. A one-club man, Ryan was stolen away by United right under the nose of the noisy neighbors when Sir Alex personally visited his place to make him sign a contract with United after watching him play from his office window.
Since then, the Welsh Wizard has won more honours than any other player in the club's history. He recently overtook Sir Bobby Charlton's record of most appearances in United shirt. His trophy cabinet includes, along with many personal achievements, an unbelievable tally of 11 Premier League titles,4 FA Cups, 2 UEFA Champions League, 1 FIFA Club World Cup, 8 FA Shield and 1 Intercontinental Cup.

Here's the Welsh Wizard in quotes:

By himself:

> "I am still not the oldest!! Edwin is the oldest." (on being dubbed as "old")

>"I am still shouted at by the boss."

>"A lot of people don't know that my father is black. Kids at school used to make fun of it. But football used to be my best friend."

>"I remember running home from my mate's house, turning the corner and seeing that big Mercedes. I'd forgotten he was coming that day. It was the one and only time he's ever let me off with being late.(on the time when Sir Alex visited his place to make him join United)

>"As a footballer, I can't imagine life without the use of my legs.. Sadly, this is exactly what happens to thousands of children every year when they
accidentally step on a land mine." (when he started the UNICEF campaign)

>"Arsenal have never been able to defend a Championship and we hope Chelsea face that sort of problem this year" (start of 2010-11 season)

>"We already earn more than enough money from football and sponsors. My expenditures include just house bills, holidays and school fee." (on having a quiet wedding while Becks and Rooney sold their wedding pics to tabloids)

>"United are a family club. When I was young, Bruce and Robson used to cheer me up while I sulked in the backseat of the bus after a difficult game."

By others:

"Ryan makes you believe there is a football God." - Ron Atkinson

"Eric Cantona is a great player, but he's not Ryan Giggs" - Johann Cruyff

"A young Giggsy was like a Ballet Dancer. I had never seen a young player like that and I had seen the Busby Babes." - Eric Harrison (United youth coach)

"I was almost in tears watching him play" - Alan Smith (Greater Manchester Schools Manager)

"Giggs is truly world class." - Zinedine Zidane

"Beckham and Scholes have shown their talents as goalscorers, but Giggs is the best." - Alessandro Del Piero

"The first time I saw Giggsy, he was playing for Salford Boys against United's apprentices. He was thin and wiry but he just glided past four of our apprentices as if they weren't even there, then he put the ball in the back of the net. I just thought "This kid's an absolute natural" - Bryan Robson

"How I would love to adorn my team sheet with the words 'Sir' Ryan Giggs. He is like a god in the dressing room, yet easily accessible." - Sir Alex

Happy Birthday Ryan Giggs

Happy Birthday Welsh Dragon aka Ryan Giggs
It is Manchester United's one man club's birthday. This blog post pays a tribute to the longest serving Red Devils. His name shall be associated with United's one of the greats like George Best, Eric Cantona, Sir Bobby Charlton, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, the list goes on and on.

"I think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom. "
-- Bob Dylan

The above quotation by Bob Dylan is well suited to Ryan Giggs' cause. He's a man of material, a born leader and an outstanding performer.

At 37, you would still argue he's atleast 10 years younger, that's Ryan Giggs for you. Giggs is the first player in football history to win two PFA Young Player of the Year awards (1992 and 1993) and is the only player to play and score in every Premier League season since its inception 1992.

Giggs recent form
Ryan has recently come from a hamstring injury and scored thrice so far this season. Previous season was one of the most remarkable for him where he helped United demolish arch rivals - Manchester City not once but twice. He delivered a killer pass to Michael Owen who very cool-ly dispatched the ball behind the net.

His by far the best goal came against Arsenal in an FA Cup Semi-Final Tie in 1999 where he took the goal past Arsenal defence alone and utterly demolished the back four including the goalie. True Legend. The goal can be found in the video below (Thanks to British Broadcast Corporation)

Nothing like a home grown manager, Giggs will easily fit in Sir Alex's shoes
Who knows, Giggs may end up being a successor of Sir Alex Ferguson. I think the name Sir Ryan Giggs well suits to be the next successful successor of Manchester United.

GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!

Rooney and Giggs to stay back in England as United fly to Spain tomorrow.

Rooney and Giggs will have to watch United's Champions League display from their TV screens as both are injured!

Rooney was supposed to recover from his minor ankle injury (as Sir Alex said) but it seems that the injury is quite serious as it looked earlier. Giggs's hamstring problem is quite serious on the other hand and is sidelined for at least 2-3 weeks.

United face Valencia, who devastated the Turkish Champions Bursapor 4-0 2 weeks back) on Wednesday - 29/09/2010 in a Champions League clash.

Match 6: United lose away as Giggs is ruled out for 2-3 weeks

Manchester United suffered another away defeat today as they gave away 2 crucial points which could have decreased the gap between themselves and Chelsea.

Also, Ryan Giggs suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to miss the Champions League game away against Valencia CF.

Rooney also suffered a minor ankle injury and was replaced by Federico Macheda. Both Rooney and Ferdinand are expected to return against Valencia though.

Guess who is up for the post of Manager at Old Trafford?

Sir Alex Ferguson has strongly disapproved any attempt by the Football Association of Wales to approach Ryan Giggs into taking over from John Toshack as the National Team Manager.

Giggs was echoed as the favorite for the job, ever since the departure of Toshack was still a rumour!
But the question arises why is Ferguson blocking these attempts ?

And the answer is quite clear, HE WANTS GIGGS TO BE THE NEXT MANAGER!

Last season there were high speculations that Jose Mourinho would be the next manager due toh his healthy relations with Sir Alex and his high rate of success, but Mourinho's frequency of shifting clubs didn't sound good to Fergie.

Moreover Ryan Giggs has given his whole life, sparkling with a bright career to the Red Devils. Therefore he stands with a bright chance of becoming the manager of his beloved team!

What do you fans out there think about it?

"Everybody needs to chip in"-Ryan Giggs

Manchester United veteran, Ryan Giggs, is highly impressed with the way his team is performing this season. With eight different players on the scoresheet so far, Manchester United already look in terrific form. They are always favourites for the title, but with the present quality of execution, they are sure to win.

Giggs expressed that last season it was Rooney all the way with no less than 34 goals, which sure helped the team to gain the second spot, but wasn't enough for the title.United were enjoying the top spot until Rooney injured his foot and missed games. The team lost its backbone, which affected their mental strength as well. Chelsea, on the other hand, were already in high spirits and easily pushed them aside.
"We can’t just rely on Wayne like we did last season, " he told MUTV. "Berba has started on fire - in the games so far, he’s had a lot of chances and he’s putting them away.
"But everyone needs to chip in, midfielders, defenders, everyone. As a team, we need to score a lot more goals from different areas on the pitch."
Meanwhile, Giggs has expressed his happiness for Rooney, who recently ended his goal draught!

Ryan Giggs aims to coach Manchester United if not Wales

UNITED FOR LIFE
Ryan Giggs has further strengthened his desire to coach Manchester United after being a one club man for United for life.

It's been 20 years for the United veteran since he first started playing for the Youth team, it's been a journey ever since. There is no better person than a one club man at your own club to take charge from you. I think it would be a delightful opportunity for both. Giggs should try his best to be the next coach at United.
The veteran said "My aim would be to manage either Manchester United or Wales".

Giggs who will be 37 this year in November, has every season since he was 30 as if was his last as a player, but its amazing to watch him keep going.
Absolut Legends, role models.
Lost gone are the days of flying down the wing and making most accomplished right-backs in the game look distinctly average, this guy has reduced his fitness over the years but he still stands up bravely after falling down. He still has the valour to carry on and spread the Glory. He's already a legend, a remarkable personality and of course a BIG influence for the United kids.

Giggs who has scored 155 goals for United in about 840 appearances has done remarkably well. He's the best if not the perfect man to take over Fergie.
