Paul Scholes demands five 'experienced' signings

Paul Scholes has today spoken about his former club and seemingly erupted a volcano.
"In those years under Sir Alex Ferguson, when trophy followed trophy, this sort of mediocrity was unthinkable. But it is happening."
You probably heard the gossip about Paul Scholes' expected column in today's Independent newspaper (Click here for the link). We summarise his concerns below and comment on the probability of its occurrence - more to follow:

1) Paul Scholes thinks his former employer needs to sign 5 new experienced players in order to stand a chance to compete in the 2014-2015 Barclays Premier League.

2) Four of the five players he has recommended are present Real Madrid members. A possibility of such a transfer is HIGHLY unlikely. We wonder what was going through the Englishman's mind while he was drafting this article for the Independent)

3) TRDS ponders the possibility of such a massive transfer (the bill could easily exceed USD250M. This would not only pinch MUFC's revenues but might also disqualify from a potential Champions League Place after not adhering with the UEFA's Fair play policy.

4) Scholes doubts the clubs ambitions by reflecting on failure to sign the FIFA World Cup 2014 final star, Tony Kroos (now acquired by Real Madrid FC) and Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal rebel now bought by Chelsea FC).

5) FIVE: Wait for it... The five players who Paul Scholes thinks should feature for Manchester United are Sami Khedira, 'Angel' Di Maria, Xabi Alonso, Mats Hummels and Raphael Varane. TRDS doesn't expect Di Maria to open his wings and start producing trophies at Old Trafford overnight.

Such things do not usually happen overnight at this prestigious Manchester club.

One would wonder, what happened to the Marco Reus deal and why is he not on Paul Scholes' desired list? Another question Paul should answer is that WHY is he targeting Real Madrid players. Getting just the previous Manchester United no. 7 'Cristiano Ronaldo' back into the scene would be sufficient. His value should be far below at what he was sold to Real Madrid in 2009 realistically speaking.

Paul Scholes certainly has turned up the heat on the Manchester United family. It will be interesting to see how the world reacts!
But one thing is for sure, Manchester United Football Club NEVER panics! Because we fight right till the referee (inc. the retired Howard Webb) blows his whistle.

TRDS demands a reason as to why Paul has made such a peculiar request to his former employer.

Here's how Paul Scholes XI looks like

Manchester United contracts round-up

Share it with your friends?
Patrice Evra, a £5.5 million transfer from Monaco in January 2006, has yet to discuss a new contract at Manchester United. Evra insisted earlier this month that he would hold his contract talks until the end of the season. This clearly shows his interest to leave United before his contract gets finished in 2012.

Below is a list of all the contracts expiring following year (2011)
Van Der Sar: Declared that this season is his last!
Gary Neville: Too old for modern football
Paul Scholes: Looks fit for another campaign
Ryan Giggs: Is having talks regarding an extension
Owen Hargreaves: Injury plagued, would be out of contract and would have to be left out next year unfortunately!
Michael Owen: Would leave in Summer, 2011 if not January, 2011.. Talks are ongoing with Sunderland who recently lost Darren Bent to Aston Villa. Will Michael Owen fill the loophole at Sunderland?

Who will stay?
Paul Scholes
Ryan Giggs
TRDS expects the old guard to stay another year.

Contracts expiring in 2012
Wes Brown
John O'Shea: Both O'Shea and Brown are losing their worth for United.
Patrice Evra- Off to Real Madrid this summer?
Darron Gibson- Should stay, provided he improves.
Darren Fletcher- United4ever.
Michael Carrick- Doubtful
Ji Sung Park- Arguably the best asian player around, will quit at United.
Tomasz Kuszczak- Doubftul
Dimitar Berbatov- United4ever

Who will stay?
Dimitar Berbatov
Darron Gibson
Darren Fletcher
Ji Sung Park

Hence the following BIG questions arise:
1) Just how long would the FAB three (Giggs, Neville, Scholes) stay?
2) Would Kuszczak be considered as United's future?
3) Will Patrice Evra quit and consider Real Madrid?
Time will answer those questions, for now sing along and sing LOUD: Glory Glory Man United!

Rio fit to face Arsenal

Rio Ferdinand is fit and ready to go up against the likes of Chamakh and Van Persie on Monday. The England captain suffered from a tight hamstring while playing against Valencia in the UEFA Champions League clash and had to be substituted in the 50th minute of the game. Though, the Boss made it clear that it was just a precautionary measure but still it wasn't sure whether he would be able to face Arsenal or not. But now, the 32 year old veteran has been passed fit to feature in the Monday night's crunch tie.

However, Paul Scholes participation still remains a doubt after he suffered a knock in the training last week.

Apparently, Patrice Eva is fit to play too.

Clash of the Titans(or is it?)

Epic Game on Sunday 19/09/2010. Manchester United vs Liverpool, Old Trafford

On Sunday, one would witness one of the most popular competetions of Club Football, Manchester United v/s Liverpool. These two have been tough rivals ever since Sun is rising from the east! Although Liverpool FC have not been up to their standards for the past few years, but still this clash is still highly anticipated worldwide. The players of each team are also instructed to give their best at the prestigious moment.

Joe Cole snubbed Mancheste United for Liverpool, fool?
High expectations always become higher with controversies! This time too, we have one. England midfielder Cole became one of the most high-profile free agents of recent years when he was not offered a new contract by Chelsea at the end of last season. At one time Manchester United were favorites to net him. However, he signed a four year contract with Liverpool which led to Sir Alex claiming the dealings could have been 'complicated'. Now, with Cole already named in the squad which would charge against United tomorrow, the fixture becomes all the more interesting.

United and Scottish Midfielder Darren Fletcher has insisted that the team needs to showcase their 'killer instinct' against their arch-rivals. Expressing concern over the below average performances of his team lately, Fletcher was quoted by The Mirror as, "What we’re missing just now is the killer instinct, we need to change that."

Meanwhile, all-time great Paul Scholes insisted that the Manchester United and Liverpool rivalry would never end, but would grow with each passing year. "Liverpool did not have a great season last year but whenever you play them it is still a massive game.", said Scholes.

With no major changes in the team as such, Ferguson has claimed that Berbatov would be back for the game and Vidic would resume the captaincy!
Once linked with Barcelona FC, now the present captain of Manchester United FC

TheReDevilSpot predicts a 3-0 victory for Manchester United and hopes for it too!!

Paul Scholes: August Player of the Month

Just how good is Paul Scholes?
Paul Scholes, 35, has been awarded Player of the month for August. Just how good is he! He recently scored his 150th goal  for Manchester United in all competitions agaisnt a 2-2 draw against Fulham FC at the cursed Craven Cottage Stadium by the river thames. He has been a superb servant for Manchester United in a career span of 16+ years since 1994. A perfect one-club-man

Paul Scholes has obviously changed over the years. He's not the same old attacking midfielder due to this age! However, the amount of quality in his long-balls is just tremendous. He has become famous for his killer passes lately.

Scholes has been in a superb form in August. He was awarded Man of the Match against the Community Shield game against Chelsea on 8th August, 2010 - which was an excellent way to celebrate his 1 year extension contract... In United's first game of the season, he was again the man of the match after master-minding two superb goals via lovely assists. In the next game, he was the only Red Devil to score against Fulham, of course the other one came from one of the Fulham defenders - Hangeland. Paul Scholes has been a delight to watch so far this season. What's amazing to watch is the amount of consistency he brings into his performance. He increases the tempo of the game through his killer balls.

Let's hope he carries this superb form for the important month of September where United sees Everton, Rangers and then Liverpool!

Craven Cottage remains to be a curse for Manchester United

It's getting better since 23rd March, 2009 but the Reds still struggle at the mischievious ground.
Every Red Devil should pray for United when they play Fulham at home. Hope the next season holds good!

Flashback from previous years at Craven Cottage

Season 2008/2009
Paul, this is not Volley-ball is it?
Date: 23 March 2009
Final Score: Fulham 2-0 Manchester United

Decent strike by Bobby Zamora, penalty thanks to Paul Scholes' hand-effort to try and save the match!

To make matters worse, Rooney was red-carded when he apparentyly tried to attack the referee while he was just angry about his yellow card booking. He literally threw the ball towards the kick taker to start the game quickly, but thanks to Phil Dowd to spoil things for United even more. Thanks Phil (!"!$£"$£^%$)

Season 2009/2010
Date: 19 December 2009
Final Score: Fulham 3-0 Manchester United

You rarely see Fletcher and Carrick partnered together, but it did happen on this dark Saturday night by the River thames in London when Bobby Zamora and co fired 3 goals to nil to seal a comfortable and a dominating win over the Red Devils.

Season 2010/2011
Date: 22 August, 2010
Final Score: Fulham 2-2 Manchester United

Lovely 25 yd goal 11 mins past KO
Scholes brings glory early on in the game (11') when he fires a beautiful 25 yard goal into the Fulham net. It seemed that United may have removed the curse they had been suffering since 2 years at this very ground. But soon Davies equalises. Hopes rise again as the attacking ball from United's wing (led by Antonio Valencia?) finds the net from Fulham's very own defender - Haangeland. Things look relaxed. 2-1. My prediction was right! Oh Hang on a minute, United gets a chance to make it 3-1 but oh no Nani gets the penalty kick (why the F*ck is it not Giggs?) And guess what? Nani shoots a rather predictable delivery aiming for the left lower post but miserably failed with respect to pace and patience. So back to 2-1, to make matters worse the own goal scorer Haangelnad makes it all squared for the hosts by converting a decent corner into a lovely goal. Thanks to slacky defending by United.

So what costed United the draw? I guess Giggs is to be blamed partly for trusting Nani and United's defenders. They never looked as though they wanted to win the game, thats how I feel.
HERO! Scores an own goal and then scores for United.

But anyhow I hope 2011 will offer United any help if not 2012 when United play at Craven Cottage again!

Paul Scholes urged not to retire next summer

Scholes has been one of Ferguson's greatest servants at Old Trafford but hinted in May that the 2009-10 campaign would be his last, with persistent injury problems taking their toll on the cultured midfielder.

Scholes, who will miss Sunday's Old Trafford derby against Manchester City through suspension following his dismissal at Tottenham last weekend, became the leading English goalscorer in Champions League history with the late header that sealed a 1-0 Group B victory over Besiktas in Istanbul on Tuesday.

Having retired from England duty at the age of just 29 in 2004 after winning 66 caps, Scholes's admission earlier this year that he expects this season to be his last should not be viewed as a tactic aimed at nudging United into offering a new contract to replace that which expires next June.

Ferguson has conceded in the past that Scholes's 'stubborn' nature ensures that the midfielder rarely performs about-turns on anything, let alone plans to retire.

But with his 35th birthday approaching in November, Ferguson insists that Scholes's early-season form is proof that the player's birth certificate is irrelevant. Ferguson said: "I don't think this is Paul's last season. Not with the way that he plays. He is not the type to burst in to the penalty box any more is he? "It's difficult to say [how long he can go on] because it's still only September, but I am seeing the fresh Scholesy and the best time to use Scholes is when he is fresh.

"He will not be playing the whole season, but that's why we have got a squad of players, and he will miss more than he plays. "But if I get 25 games out of him at the level we saw against Spurs last Saturday, I think we will be delighted with that."

Scholes's absence ensures that derby day is likely to be without a single Mancunian on either side and he admits to being frustrated by his controversial dismissal for two yellow cards against Spurs. He said: "I was disappointed at being sent off when I think most people could see it wasn't a second yellow card. "The derby is always a massive game, but after what has gone on there at City, it is probably a little bit bigger this year and it is also tight at the top of the league.
"So I am disappointed to miss it, especially as I was sent off when I shouldn't have been."

Both Scholes and Ryan Giggs, who turns 36 in November, must earn new contracts if they are to remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of this season, yet the pair remain key figures in Ferguson's plans.
